Dear 1st Hinchley Wood Scout Group Parents / Carers
The Xmas Tree Volunteer Sign-up sheet for 2022 is now live. This is our largest fundraiser of the year (by a significant amount!) and we need EVERYONE in the Group to help make it a success. We expect to see every family’s name down to help out – there are lots of dates and time slots available so everyone should be able to find a slot that works around their other commitments. Please note that the finish times on the tree delivery dates are a very rough guide, most will be finished well before the time suggested (assuming that we get enough people to help).
For those new to the group, it is really very simple – you can either help with getting the trees sorted into batches and labelled up in preparation for delivery and / or deliver the trees to homes within the local area so no training / skills involved! It’s good exercise and a great way to get into the festive spirit. Feel free to join up with another parent to do them together if you prefer, or bring along an older Scout or Explorer to help. When you sign up, please can you enter a comment to say whether you can bring a vehicle for delivering the trees or not. We really need as many cars (with a good-sized boot) / vans / people carriers / trailers as possible.
As many of you know, when children join the Group, everyone commits to help out in some way – contributing at least 10 hours a year of volunteer time. We do monitor this and, as always there are a few families who have far exceeded this already and others who we have not seen at all. It would be really great to share this out more fairly. Although we expect everyone to help, please do let your parent rep if you are not able to. They can suggest other roles you may want to pick up.
